The name Louis Vuitton has been an iconic brand since as far back as the 1850’s. After starting out manufacturing high-end trunks, the company is now known around the world for luxury bags, wallets and luggage. Today we’re going to take a look at the different styles and prints that you can find right here at King’s Kloset in Saratoga Springs, New York. Check out our entire Louis Vuitton collection here.
Classic Monogram
The most popular style is the canvas print with the famous “LV” monogram. It features a brown background with both interlocking letters as well as a floral pattern. This pattern was designed by Louis’ son, George, and has been used on luggage and bags since 1896. The canvas fabric holds up well over time, but it’s recommended to use a leather conditioner periodically to keep it looking as fresh as possible.
Damier Ebène (Canvas)
Another very popular print is the Damier Ebène, which has been around even longer than the Monogram logo. The word damier is French for ‘checkerboard,’ and (as you might guess) features a pattern of brown and tan squares. The Ebène colors are the same as the Classic Monogram but is a slightly more understated way to show off the brand. The canvas material is typically paired with a tan leather trim. This material should be treated with the same care as the Classic Mongram as well.
Damier Azur (Canvas)
Very closely related to the Damier Ebene is the Damier Azur. The difference here is the colors are lighter, featuring a vanilla cream and dark blue checkered pattern. Although it has a very classic look, the pattern has only been in use since 2006. The lighter colors on this material can be cleaned with a damp cloth, and a periodic use of leather conditioner will keep it from cracking or wearing over time.
Vernis Leather
The Vernis Leather, introduced in the late 1990’s, brought a fresh new look to the Classic Monogram graphic pattern. These brighter colors are noticeable from across the room and pair well with brighter outfits. We recommend using a dust bag for storage when not in use – this will help keep the colors looking their best, and also help to keep fingerprints and other smudges from the surface.
Epi Leather
Known for its superior durability, the Epi Leather patterns have been in use for about 100 years. The material on these bags tends to hold up extremely well, requiring just a light cleaning with a damp cloth every so often, as well as periodic use of a leather conditioner to prevent aging. The Epi Leather bags come in a very wide variety of colors. Up close, you’ll notice a stamped pattern of horizontal lines that give the item its unique texture.
Multicolor Monogram
This limited edition canvas print was only around for a short amount of time in the company’s history, but is considered a classic. Its unique and colorful approach to the original monogram print is instantly recognizable and adds a flash of boldness to each item it adorns. It requires the same care and maintenance as the other canvas styles. You can find this print on both black and white backgrounds.
